Fugitive Arrest
Billerica – On Wednesday, March 15, 2012 at approximately 1130 hours, Billerica Police arrested Elvis Hidalgo, 47, of #19 Greve Street, Methuen MA for Possession of Chemical Mace without a License. The arrest was made following observations of suspicious activity made by Lieutenant Ryan Columbus of Tewksbury Police in the area of the North Billerica Commuter Rail Station. Lt. Columbus was recently sworn in as a Special Billerica Police Officer under a mutual aid pact initiated by the Lowell Police Department with six Greater Lowell Communities (Lowell, Billerica, Westford, Dracut, Tewksbury, Tyngsboro, and Chelmsford). After stopping Elvis Hidalgo it was discovered he was in possession of Chemical Mace without an FID, a misdemeanor in Massachusetts punishable by up to two years in jail or a $500 fine. Following the arrest, Elvis Hidalgo was determined to have been wanted out of New York City for a 1994 felony drug arrest. It was later determined that Mr. Hidalgo had used a false name during his 1994 New York City arrest. He was positively identified through finger prints obtained following his arrest in Billerica. The New York City District Attorney’s Office issued a detainer on Elvis Hidalgo and has taken steps to rendite him back to their State to be tried on his earlier drug charges.
