Residential Roof Collapse
At approximately 6:43PM on February 16, 2015, the Billerica Police Department received a call from a man at 57 Lexington Road in Billerica reporting that his roof had collapsed and that he was trapped in the home. Minimal information was able to be obtained from the caller as to the nature of any injuries or number of occupants.
Police, Fire, and EMS personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene while the dispatcher remained on the phone line with the caller in attempt to keep him calm and obtain additional information. Within minutes police arrived to find the home had a partial roof collapse. The officers were able to make contact with the male occupant through a window and help him evacuate the home prior to additional public safety units arriving. The occupant did not sustain any injuries in the collapse and was home alone at the time of the incident.
The utility companies, Town of Billerica Building Inspector, and the Red Cross also responded to the scene. At this time the home is uninhabitable.
