BILLERICA — Chief Daniel Rosa reports that the Billerica Police Department arrested a man for robbery at a local store on Friday evening, and it turned out that the suspect also had three outstanding arrest warrants.

FREDDIE PEREZ-ERAUSQUIN, AGE 27, OF SPRINGFIELD was arrested after police responded to the CVS/Pharmacy on Boston Road at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

PEREZ-ERAUSQUIN allegedly walked into the store and approached a cashier to make a purchase. When the register drawer was open, he allegedly leaned over, grabbed cash, and fled.

An off-duty Harvard University police officer was nearby and heard the commotion. He ran over and physically restrained PEREZ-ERAUSQUIN until Billerica officers arrived to arrest him.

PEREZ-ERAUSQUIN was transported to Saints Medical Center for an evaluation and released a few hours later. He was charged with Unarmed Robbery and Resisting Arrest.

“This was a good team effort by our off-duty colleague from Harvard and Billerica Police responding quickly to arrest this suspect,” Chief Rosa said. “Thankfully, no one was hurt, and this suspect, who was already wanted for a host of other crimes, is now in custody.”

PEREZ-ERAUSQUIN also has arrest warrants open out of Lowell District Court, for motor vehicle charges, destruction of property, and other crimes.

The suspect is being held at the Billerica Police Department pending his arraignment Monday in Lowell District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
