Suspicious Circumstances Surrounding a Temporarily Missing Adult Disabled Person
Billerica –On Monday, July 23, 2018 at approximately 4:30 pm, the Billerica Police received a report from Northeast Residential Services located in Billerica that an adult disabled resident of that facility was missing. An investigation into the circumstances of that report revealed that a 28 year old male resident of that location had been picked up at around 7:45 am that morning by a private transportation company for a scheduled transport to a work-day program in Lawrence. It was not until later that day, at approximately 4:30 pm that caretakers from Northeast Residential Services discovered the resident had not gotten on the private transport bus back to Billerica. During the preliminary investigation into the incident, the Billerica Police learned that the involved individual had been located by the Massachusetts State Police (MSP) in the vicinity of Interstate 93 in Lawrence. At that time, due to a pre-existing disability of the individual involved, coupled with the inability for the MSP to identify this individual, he was transported to a local hospital in Methuen for evaluation. With that new information, the individual was quickly located by his caretakers and is reportedly safe and healthy at this time. The Billerica Police are currently working with the appropriate state and local agencies to determine the most appropriate course of action.
