Wilmington Man arrested on Multiple Felony Warrants
Billerica –On Wednesday. October 3, 2018, at approximately 2:30AM, Billerica Police arrested Torrey Smith, 39, of Wilmington, MA on felony arrest warrants related to an August 22nd incident that occurred in Billerica. On that date, he was alleged to have forced entry into a former girlfriend’s residence where he assaulted her and an acquaintance. During the incident, Smith is alleged to have assaulted an individual with a wooden crucifix resulting in significant tissue damage to their nose. Smith fled the scene prior to police arrival and has been sought by authorities since that time. Billerica Officer Rafael Mendez had been involved in the investigation of the August incident. While conducting an investigation into a civil motor vehicle infraction on Boston Road in Billerica, he became suspicious that a passenger in the vehicle may be Torrey Smith. After initially providing Officer Mendez with a fictitious identity, he was able to positively identify the individual to be Torrey Smith. Mr. Smith was arrested on the warrants and booked at the Billerica Police Department. He will be arraigned on Thursday, October 3, 2018 in Lowell District Court.
