Billerica Home Health Aid Arrested for Stealing Elderly Patient’s Credit Card
Billerica – On Monday, March 11, 2019, Billerica Police arrested Christine Wojcik, 47, of Billerica following a four week investigation into the theft of a local elderly couple’s credit card. Billerica Police allege that Ms. Wojcik had been hired by the victims’ family to provide home health care assistance to the couple. After the passing of one of the elders, a family member discovered dozens of charges had been made on a credit card belonging to the couple, which was only kept for emergency needs. After discovering over forty new charges totaling over $5,000 on the previously zero balance card, the police were contacted. Police detectives were able to secure digital evidence showing the involved card being used by Ms. Wojcik throughout the Greater Lowell area, including a late January 2019 trip to Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. Ms. Wojcik will be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 on charges of Larceny Over $1,200 through a Single Scheme, Receiving a Stolen Credit Card and Misleading a Police Investigation.
Of note, all of the above charges are considered allegations and Ms. Wojcik is presumed innocent of these charges until proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
