Please be aware that there has been an increase of vehicles being broken into in the surrounding towns. Last week a number of vehicles were broken into in Bedford and Tewksbury. Billerica was affected as well but it was isolated. Last night, Chelmsford had a significant amount of vehicles entered and property stolen. Like the rest of these agencies we are asking that residents realize that every neighborhood and town is a potential target to thieves. Don’t let complacency deter good habits. Please secure your vehicles and remove valuables or keep them from view. If you do become a victim please make sure you report the incident to BPD.
Burglary Suspects Apprehended
Billerica – On Saturday, September 6, 2014 at approximately 1:20 AM, the Billerica Police were contacted by a Buckland Security Officer regarding suspicious activity observed at #8 Federal Street, Billerica. On arrival, Officers learned that two suspects wearing dark clothing with gloves and masks were observed by Buckland Security in the area of a loading dock door for Parexel, a biopharmaceutical and medical device company. Due to the time of night and the fact that the business was closed, the security officer began to investigate when the two suspects suddenly fled on foot into the wood line. With this information, Officers quickly set up a perimeter and contacted Billerica K9 Officer Tsoukalas to assist with a search.
Within thirty minutes of the setting up a perimeter, Officer Paul Brady located a suspect hiding behind a parked motor vehicle on Hattie Lane, which is a short distance from Federal Street. Shortly thereafter, Officer Tsoukalas and his canine partner “Yak” located a second suspect hiding under the bushes in the area of #443 Middlesex Turnpike. Following a preliminary investigation into the incident it was confirmed that Parexel was forcibly entered and that the two detained suspects were involved. Arrested at the scene were Richard Beebe, 43 of Wakefield and Jeffrey Seward, 49 of Billerica. Both were charged with Breaking and Entry in the Nightime, Destruction of Property and Possession of Bulgarious Tools. Both will be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Monday, September 8, 2014. Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in Wilmington
On Thursday, July 31, 2014 at approximately 1030 a.m., the Billerica Police responded to Lowell Five Bank, 700 Boston Road, for a reported Bank Robbery. On arrival the bank reported an older white male suspect approached the drive-up window and passed the teller a threatening note demanding money. The suspect managed to obtain a sum of cash and fled the area in a red Ford Explorer. Shortly thereafter, at approximately 1121 a.m., Tewksbury Police responded to a reported Bank Robbery at their Lowell Five, located at 1775 Main Street. The suspect and vehicle involved in the Tewksbury robbery matched the description in the Billerica robbery. The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of U.S. currency. Approximately forty minutes later, Wilmington Police Officer Julie Pozzi was operating a marked patrol car in the area of Eastern Bank, #370 Main Street when she observed the suspect vehicle approach the drive-through window of that bank. The officer made observations that lead her to believe the suspect was in the process of robbing the bank. The officer subsequently summoned back-up assistance and safely apprehended the suspect in the parking lot of the bank without incident. The suspect was subsequently identified as Daniel Diblasi, 59 years of age, from Billerica. Evidence recovered at the scene appears to tie all three robberies to this suspect. He was taken into custody by the Wilmington Police and will be arraigned at Woburn District Court on various charges related to these incidents. The incident is being investigated by members of the Billerica, Tewksbury and Wilmington Police Departments.
