Two Men Sentenced In Connection With Billerica Home Invasion Resulting In Murder

Billerica Police | MA Posted on January 6, 2015 by BPD TechJanuary 6, 2015

WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced that two men were sentenced today after being convicted of charges in connection with a home invasion in Billerica on July 7, 2012 during which Quintin Koehler, 22, of Billerica was shot and killed.

Peter Bin, 27, of Peabody, was convicted on December 19 by a jury in Middlesex Superior Court on a charge of first degree felony murder. Bin was sentenced by Middlesex Superior Court Judge Kathe Tuttman to life in prison without parole.

Gabriel Arias, 22, of Lynn, was convicted on December 19 by a jury in Middlesex Superior Court on a charge of misleading a police investigation. Arias was sentenced by Judge Tuttman to five to seven years in state prison.

“The jury’s verdict confirms what our investigation revealed,” said District Attorney Ryan. “Peter Bin was part of a conspiracy to carry out an armed robbery. When the gunmen forced their way into a Billerica home, carrying pistols and wearing masks, two brothers went to investigate and confronted the home invaders. During the struggle that followed, one of the gunmen shot and killed Quintin Koehler. Gabriel Arias tried to thwart the investigation, repeatedly lying to police about his whereabouts and the whereabouts of others.”

“Today our thoughts remain with the family of the victim,” said Billerica Police Chief Daniel Rosa. “I am grateful for the hard work done by our detectives, the Massachusetts State Police, as well as the District Attorney. Billerica is a safer community today because of their fine work.”

According to authorities, on July 7, 2012, at approximately 3:55 a.m., Billerica Police responded to 795 Boston Road for a report of a shooting. Officers discovered the victim, Quintin Koehler, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Lahey Clinic, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Assistant District Attorneys assigned to the case are David Solet and Bethany Stevens. The Victim Witness Advocate is Kathleen Keefe. The case was investigated by Billerica Police and State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Two Convicted In Connection With Billerica Home Invasion During Which Man Was Killed

Billerica Police | MA Posted on December 19, 2014 by BPD TechDecember 19, 2014

WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced that two men have been convicted of charges in connection with a home invasion in Billerica on July 7, 2012 during which Quintin Koehler, 22, of Billerica was killed.

Peter Bin, 27, of Peabody, was convicted by a jury in Middlesex Superior Court on charges of first degree felony murder, home invasion, and attempted armed robbery. Judge Kathe Tuttman ordered Bin to be continued to be held without bail. Bin is scheduled to be sentenced on January 5, 2015.

Gabriel Arias, 22, of Lynn, was convicted by a jury in Middlesex Superior Court on a charge of misleading a police investigation for lying about his presence at the scene that evening. Judge Tuttman revoked Arias’s bail and he is scheduled to be sentenced on January 5, 2015.

“This was a brazen calculated attack,” said District Attorney Ryan. “Peter Bin was part of a scheme to carry out an armed robbery in a private home. When two residents fought to defend themselves, the home invaders shot and killed Quintin Koehler.”

According to authorities, on July 7, 2012, at approximately 3:55 a.m. Billerica Police responded to 795 Boston Road for a report of a shooting. Officers discovered the victim, Quintin Koehler, evidencing a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Lahey Clinic where he was pronounced dead. The Office of Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be a homicide.

Evidence presented during trial showed that Bin and Arias broke into Koehler’s home in the morning of July 7 with intent to rob the victim. Authorities believe the home was targeted because the defendants believed marijuana and money would be present at the home. The victim and a witness heard someone enter the home, approached the intruders, and a fight ensued.

The Assistant District Attorneys assigned to the case are David Solet and Bethany Stevens. The Victim Witness Advocate is Kathleen Keefe. The case was investigated by Billerica Police and State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

National Grid Contractor To Begin Inspecting Gas Regulators

Billerica Police | MA Posted on December 16, 2014 by BPD TechFebruary 22, 2018

wg_nav_premierNational Grid will soon begin a project to identify and replace certain gas regulators within Billerica. Gas regulators are pieces of equipment that are located on customer property, but are owned and maintained by National Grid. Regulators are usually located outdoors near the gas meter, but in some cases, they are inside. Their function is to ensure gas is delivered to homes and small businesses at the appropriate pressure. National Grid’s number one priority is the safety and reliability of our networks.

Phase I of the project consists of identifying all regulators that need to be replaced. Premier Utility Services working on National Grid’s behalf will be working in certain neighborhoods to examine the gas regulators at each home and business. All contractors (Premier Utility Services) working on National Grid’s behalf carry photo identification, wear Hi Vis traffic safety vest, orange hardhat with Premier logo, and they will not enter any homes without the homeowner’s permission. If a customer’s regulator needs to be replaced, the contractor (Premier Utility Services) will simply leave a tag on the regulator to indicate that replacement is warranted. The existing regulators are completely safe – receiving a tag on a regulator is not a cause for concern. This phase of the project is expected to continue through April 1, 2015.

  • Hours of Operation
    • Monday – Saturday (8AM-8PM)
    • Sunday (8AM-4PM)
