Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested in Wilmington

Billerica Police | MA Posted on July 31, 2014 by BPD TechJuly 31, 2014

On Thursday, July 31, 2014 at approximately 1030 a.m., the Billerica Police responded to Lowell Five Bank, 700 Boston Road, for a reported Bank Robbery. On arrival the bank reported an older white male suspect approached the drive-up window and passed the teller a threatening note demanding money. The suspect managed to obtain a sum of cash and fled the area in a red Ford Explorer. Shortly thereafter, at approximately 1121 a.m., Tewksbury Police responded to a reported Bank Robbery at their Lowell Five, located at 1775 Main Street. The suspect and vehicle involved in the Tewksbury robbery matched the description in the Billerica robbery. The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of U.S. currency. Approximately forty minutes later, Wilmington Police Officer Julie Pozzi was operating a marked patrol car in the area of Eastern Bank, #370 Main Street when she observed the suspect vehicle approach the drive-through window of that bank. The officer made observations that lead her to believe the suspect was in the process of robbing the bank. The officer subsequently summoned back-up assistance and safely apprehended the suspect in the parking lot of the bank without incident. The suspect was subsequently identified as Daniel Diblasi, 59 years of age, from Billerica. Evidence recovered at the scene appears to tie all three robberies to this suspect. He was taken into custody by the Wilmington Police and will be arraigned at Woburn District Court on various charges related to these incidents. The incident is being investigated by members of the Billerica, Tewksbury and Wilmington Police Departments.

Any additional questions should be directed to Deputy Chief Robert Richter, 978-658-5071

Three Juveniles Identified in School Vandalism

Billerica Police | MA Posted on July 2, 2014 by BPD TechJuly 2, 2014

Billerica – On Thursday, June 25, 2014, Billerica Police responded to the Dutile Elementary School in Billerica for a report of a recent vandalism. Officers spoke with a custodian that pointed out recent damage to the building, including three smashed windows, some ripped off siding, a damaged security camera as well as a large air conditioning unit that had been tipped over on the roof. An investigation of the damage resulted in the identification of three juvenile males that are believed to be responsible for the damage. It is believed that the juveniles had been on the property the prior evening when they committed the damage. Although all three males are facing possible charges of Malicious Destruction of Property over $250, the Billerica Police are working with the School Department and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office to determine the best course of action. Additional options of restitution and participation in a Juvenile Diversion Program are also being considered.

Arson Suspect Arrested

Billerica Police | MA Posted on June 26, 2014 by BPD TechJune 26, 2014

SlackBillerica – On Thursday, June 26, 2014, Billerica Police, Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Task Force along with Boston Police arrested Cory J Slack, 21, of Charlestown, MA for Arson of Personal Property and Malicious Destruction of Property over $250.  The arrest follows an investigation that began on Sunday evening following the report of a car fire on Belva Road, Billerica.  That fire was immediately designated as suspicious by Billerica Fire and Police personnel who responded to the scene.  Billerica Police do not believe this was a random incident of vandalism, but rather a targeted act.  Of note, these charges are only accusations at this point and Mr. Slack is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  He will be arraigned on the charges in Lowell District Court on Friday, June 27, 2014.
