Busy Weekend For Crime

Billerica Police | MA Posted on May 7, 2012 by BPD TechMay 7, 2012

Billerica Police Officers were busy this weekend completing vandalism reports and investigating a robbery.  Since Friday there were eight acts of vandalism reported to the Police Department.  The majority of these involved smashed vehicle glass on Ironwood St, Woodbury Rd, Kenmar Dr, Glad valley Dr and Sergi Ln. On Garrison St early Sunday morning, an egg was thrown at the front window of a home causing the glass to shatter. The Billerica Country Club on Baldwin Rd also suffered damaged property when someone operating an all terrain vehicle (ATV) tore up one of the putting greens late Saturday night.

Early this morning at approximately 3am a lone suspect entered the 7-Eleven store at 314 Boston Rd and stole the cash drawer.  Billerica Detectives are working to identify the suspect.  Anyone with information is encouraged to call BPD at 978-667-1212.

Fraud Alert

Billerica Police | MA Posted on April 26, 2012 by BPD TechFebruary 22, 2018

Billerica – The Billerica Police have received numerous reports of wire fraud over the past few years involving organized groups attempting to solicit unsuspecting residents through various forms of deception. Recently there has been an uptick in the amount of scams involving a representation from alleged overseas authorities, either posing as law enforcement or another foreign government agency, claiming that the victims’ loved ones are in immediate need of monies. Some of the scams involve an allegation that a family member is in custody and needs monies for court costs or restitution. One common denominator on all the scams we see involves the caller indicating the need is urgent and must be acted upon immediately. In addition, the caller will most often instruct the victim to use either Western Union or a Money gram to send the money to an overseas location. The Billerica Police want to warn residents to immediately contact this department if they receive a solicitation such as these described. Once money is wired it is virtually impossible for this department, or any other, to recover the funds.

Two Arrested in Burglary Spree

Billerica Police | MA Posted on April 25, 2012 by BPD TechFebruary 22, 2018

Billerica – On Friday, April 20, 2012, Billerica Police arrested Robert Noetzel, 20, of Billerica (left) and Joshua Menezes, 17, of Dunstable (right), charging them both with five counts of Breaking and Entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony. In addition to the burglary charges, Robert Noetzel was additionally charged with Receiving Stolen Property over $250.

The arrests followed a series of daytime residential burglaries that began on March 18, 2012 and continued through to April 20, 2012 that detectives were able to tie directly to the two defendants. One of the burglaries occurred on Easter Sunday while the family was out attending religious services. All of the burglaries involved residences that were unoccupied at the time of the incidents. Both Robert Noetzel and Joshua Menezes were arraigned at Lowell District Court on Monday, April 23, 2012.

Suspect Arrested After Fleeing Officer With Stolen Manhole Covers

Billerica Police | MA Posted on April 21, 2012 by BPD TechApril 21, 2012

Billerica –  On Friday, April 20, 2012, at approximately 0200 hours, Officer Scott Peloquin observed a black pickup truck exiting a closed commercial area off Boston Road in Pinehurst. The truck had a piece of cardboard covering the rear license plate.

Officer Peloquin stopped this vehicle on Boston Rd. The operator, later identified as William Kinzler, 49, of Tewksbury, immediately exited the truck, yelled at Officer Peloquin, then got back in his vehicle and fled. A short pursuit ended when the suspect drove down a dead end street that backs up to Middlesex Tpk. The suspect fled on foot and managed to evade the officers in the swamp.

Located in the rear of his vehicle were eight man hole covers that were taken from Billerica Water Works on Everett Farmer Road. Kinzler turned himself into Lowell District Court this morning on warrants related to this incident.

Any additional questions should be directed to Lieutanant Roy Frost, 978-667-1212 x120

Hockey Tournament Fundraiser

Billerica Police | MA Posted on April 10, 2012 by BPD TechApril 10, 2012

There will be a 3 on 3 hockey tournament on Saturday, April 28th at the Hallenborg rink in Billerica to raise money for a new scoreboard for the rink in Memory of Gerard Jacobs.  The tournament will be a single day event.

It will be a pond hockey style format; 3 on 3 play (no goalies) with each team having 6 team members.  We will have 3 divisions; high school, young timers & old timers.  The cost is $180 for high school teams and $240 for all other teams; 3 games plus a playoff game, if you qualify.  We will have more finite details next week.

Right now we are looking to get the word out about this tournament and try to determine how many teams will participate.  This is a fantastic reason to come out, play hockey and enjoy the day.  If you know anyone interested in this, please forward this email to them.
